Plain Language Writing

Plain language writing seeks to take technical or difficult concepts and present them in an easy-to-read, understandable format. It is information presented in clear, straightforward language with the needs of the reader foremost in mind. Plain language writing was essential in development of the Iowa Farm*A*Syst publications, which required us to present highly technical information in a simple, user-friendly way. This skill also was used in developing the toolkit on Rural Outreach on Hazardous Materials Disposal.
